Inspired Songwriting: The Past.....Inspiring?

Remembering
Can you remember something really, really
exciting that happened to you or someone you knew/know?
How about something sad, tragedy, or traumatic?
Is it possible to have either one or the other, or both,
 inspire your creativity?

Lessons  Learned
Is it the act or what you learned from the act that is inspiring?
Does it matter how far in the past the act happened?
I believe there are inspiring things from our lives,
even our past, that
can be fuel for our present creativity. We don't always have to use the acts as
they actually happened. Sometimes it is the abstracting of the event, the changing
of the "look", that brings about the inspiration.
Sometimes it is the response to the lesson learned and not the lesson
itself that provides the inspiration.

Look Back
So, my friend, why not take a look back into where you have been in
order to move ahead?

Inspired Songwriting: What's On You Heart

Have you ever been asked,  What's on your heart?

We are often asked by well meaning friends "What's on your mind"
But as artists I believe the more important question is, "What's on your heart?".

WHAT COMES THROUGH?
You see it is what is on your heart that will  undeniably be the thing which
 comes through our art.

DOES IT HAVE LIFE?
We often try to create our art by looking at it from what we "know",
by drawing from our mind. When we rely mainly on what we think and not look
to how we "feel" our creation comes through to the observer as "flat", lifeless.
How do we expect others to feel our creation if we don't put
our feelings into what we create?

IS IT MOVING?
If we desire to "move" others by our creations we must first ask ourselves
does this move me. If our creations don't move us how can we except to
move others?

CLOSING THOUGHT
If we don't "feel" our creations, they won't have life.

So, my friend, what is on your heart?
